When I was in Davao City a few weeks ago, I had the chance to visit the Philippine Eagle Center to see well, Philippine Eagles. One of the biggest eagles was Fighter, originally from Davao Oriental and arrived at the center in 2011. He was also adopted by the Uy Masuy Wine Factory, Inc. He was majestic and everyone wanted to take his photo! He also kept moving his head around so that was a challenge.
And then it made me think about the Philippines, patriotism, and how our citizens are attacking each other like rabid dogs on social media (and in real life now what) ever since the lead up to our national elections. I appreciate that people are wanting and clamoring for change however I do not see them taking action especially baby steps!
In short: If you want the country to change, it’s gotta start from you. Don’t be a stupid little hypocrite. If you really love your country, act for her well being and not for your own gains. So there.
Also, hoping that the poaching and killing of endangered species slows down to a halt!
Although about the USA, I find the following quote is applicable to any other country:
“Patriotism shouldn’t just be about pride of country. It should be about love. Love beyond age, disability, sexuality, race, religion, and any other labels. Because the second any of us judge people based on those labels, we’re not really being patriotic, are we?”
